Q. “What would you write about Roger Federer if you were a journalist?”

RAFAEL NADAL: ”First, no way would I be a journalist.

“You guys have tried to kill Roger - often. But he’s always come back and proved you wrong. So one thing I would not do is make the mistake of saying Roger is dead.”

Q: Rafa Nadal has 10 slams at 25, you have 16 and you can get some more... Do you think Rafael Nadal can get to those 16 slams?
Roger Federer: Yes, I think so. Rafa has done very well over the years. He appeared as a guy who could only win on clay and the next thing we knew, had won Wimbledon, US Open and the Australian Open. What he has done is impressive. He's a great champion, great for tennis, and it was nice to share the number 1 and 2 ranking with him for so long.
I am against it because Rafa is against it. I support him if he says that this is against tennis tradition.

It always seems to me that Rafa needs to be in a French Open final to make it special, and I got the match I was hoping for.

Qu.: If you were a boy, who would you have cheered for between Nadal and Djokovic?
Da ragazzo, per chi avrebbe tifato fra Nadal e Djokovic?

Roger: Rafa, because he is lively, energetic, colourful, a good example for the young people.
Rafa: vivace, energico, colorito, l’ideale per i giovani

I just

I didn’t refuse to play an exhibition against Rafa in Spain in July. Don’t place words in my mouth. I’m not saying you are, but I don’t want that word going around Spain. I was excited about the idea. I mentioned dates I could do it. It was difficult to find the right dates.

I don’t know the latest actually. It might still happen. Might not. May be Rafa will do it with a different player.

But I have a busy schedule, and I think they were looking at a date between Wimbledon and the Olympics. I just felt it was a tough date, the one he gave me, so I don’t know what exactly he is.

But maybe we’ve stopped talk or we’re still talking. I’ll see him in a few days and who knows if we’ll all of a sudden have a solution or not.

The most obvious alternatives as the opponent for the match at the Santiago Bernabeu are Federer and Ferrer. We want the opponent to be a top player.

Rafael Nadal: “Another final against Federer. I correct. It is never ‘another’, it is never ‘one more’. Every meeting is the first and the last…”

A Roland Garros final against Federer is like the umpteenth chapter of a film: the same people, the same stage…
